Reading Assignments

This course covers 1500 pages of reading, and the summer schedule forces us to move quickly, so you should read ahead if possible. There will be no required reading in secondary sources, but some of the Discussion Board assignments may require research.

Writing Assignments

Instead of traditional seminar papers, you will be required to post two 250-word responses each week to a prompts that I will post on the course's Discussion Board. You will also be expected to read other students' responses and post comments and/or replies to some. Click here for instructions on using the Discussion Board.

Grade Computation

Each week I will assign a letter grade for the work you have posted on the Discussion Board. I will consider your postings in response to assigned prompts as well as your comments on other students' postings. In short, I will evaluate the quality of your particpation in the collective exploration of these texts. At the end of the course, these five weekly grades will be averaged. Click here for a more detailed discussion of my grading criteria.
