English 2053: Process Analysis

Preparatory Reading
Before beginning work on your process analysis, read page 126 ("Types of Process Writing") and pages 22-29 which describe the assignment and provide two model reports.

You may create an original diagram using the drawing capabilities of your word processor or a dedicated drawing/painting program. You may also scan a diagram that you have drawn by hand. You are not, however, required to use an original graphic. You may acquire an image electronically from the Internet or some other electronic source. You may also scan in printed work.

Tip: Be sure that your diagram is self-explanatory, including a label and a title. Unless the diagram is your original creation, be sure that you include a source note. Review the material starting on page 132 in the text.

Your Subject
You may select any subject for your process analysis, but I suggest that you consider natural processes. Whatever topic you select, be sure that you avoid turning your analysis into instructions. Use third person and present tense.

Objective
The process analysis introduces students to the integration of text and graphics. The report must include one integrated diagram.
